A woman died a week after a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 47th Street.

State troopers responded to the shooting in the southbound local lanes about 8:10 p.m. May 21 and found Darren Jackson, 27, authorities said.

She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead a week later on May 28, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

She died of a gunshot wound to her head, an autopsy found.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any knowledge of the shooting is asked to call Illinois State Police at 847-294-4400, or email ISP.CrimeTips@Illinois.gov. Witnesses can remain anonymous.
